SYNOPSIS:
There was a snake charmer (Cindy) and his snake (George).
They were friends, but the snake cannot dance properly because he is
hyperactive. Once, a bird in a motorcycle near the place he was dancing
distracted him. He supposed to dance for Cindy and get money but he was hungry
and wants to eat the bird in the cage.
Then Cindy cannot take it anymore and shoo George away.
Through time, Cindy seems to feel lonely without George and George was
accidentally made the chef Jason angry during his rush to the birds. Jason
chase George and he wants to chef him. Will George survive?

He’s
a hyperactive snake and a friend of Cindy the snake charmer. He likes to tease
others and easily distracted. Once he knows what he’s interested in, he will go
for it without thinking about the other thing. He often makes Cindy angry by not
dancing very well. For example, he dance through the music at first, but a few
seconds later, he raise his speed and move like whatever he wants. Freestyle!
Actually, that’s the only thing that the rainbow boa can do, since all snake
charmer usually use cobra snake. Only Rainbow Boa can do freestyle dancing. He
can dance through all the sounds that he heard. Maybe from the audience
footsteps, the clank sound from pot, or even a clink sound that comes from
coins and then all of them formed into a new music arrangement. A kind of music
that only him can heard it.
He’s
smart actually, but it’s too bad that Cindy doesn’t realize that. All she know
that George is a clumsy, hyperactive, random, and stupid snake. And she only
thinks that George supposed to listen only to her music. Because normal humans
won’t listen to a hidden rhythm like a pot clank and a coin clinks. They just
ignore them.

REFLECTION
PAPER
How did I derive my own story?
Well, first, I read a statement from my friend “You won’t realize someone’s
kindness until they stop doing it” Just from that statement, I came with an
idea of a person with their pet. Then I watched a short animation video “in
between”, it’s about a woman and her very very very cute pet crocodile. From
these, I came out with this story idea..
But when I was creating the
character bio, I remembered my mascot from a very long time ago, since 4th
primary school. It was a rainbow boa snake also and.. it had the similar
personality. So yeah, did I just gone back to my immortal mascot? They were
five though; this snake was just one of them. I’m not really sure why but this
makes me happy, because my old mascots are really immortal and people know me
even just from hearing their names and I’m bringing them back again now.

his bad sides. Maybe there’s really something behind it that you don’t

TREATMENT /
STORYLINE & STORYBOARD
Somewhere in Arabian Village,
there’s a snake chamber name Cindy with her snake, George. They are friends.
They were not really rich and have an ordinary live and Cindy got money for
their living just being a snake chamber with George. But, she has a problem.
George is not an ordinary snake… he’s a hyperactive snake, which makes her
annoyed every time she blow and play her flute. George didn’t really pay
attention to her music. He always got distracted by the audience’s sound surround
him and starts to dance like whatever he wants.
One day, Cindy forgot to feed
George and he’s so hungry. When he supposed to dance through Cindy’s flute
play, a motorcycle that just passes by in the middle of the crowds distracted
him. His eyes stay stick to the birdcage on the rear of that 2 wheels vehicle.
Without looking anywhere but 2 birds inside the cage, he starts to follow it,
since the motorcycle was in slow speed squeezing in the middle of the crowds.
Suddenly, a little girl screamed at of being so close with George the snake. He
didn’t pay attention of where he’s going. Cindy was angry already. She cannot
take it anymore and shoo George away.
George was so sad but well, since
he’s hungry, he’s attention back to the couple of birds inside the cage that
hadn’t move so far against the crowds in the middle of village street. He keeps
chase it, chase it, and chase it.. As always, he didn’t even pay attention of
where he’s going. He crashed into the shops, crash into people’s feet, got his
tail stomped by the people but he’s still didn't care of it, he slapped many
people’s leg by his tail that moving too fast.
George even stole a fish from a chef’s
hand on his way following the motorcycle. Unfortunately, the chef, Jason was
angry and found out that the snake maybe delicious for his new menu. Then he
started to chase George who is chasing birds.
Finally, the motorcycle is parked
behind the shop in the narrow backstreet. George finally reached the birdcages
and scared the birds already by his fangs. A second later, George realize that
there’s Jason behind him with a big sharp knife on his hand. He really looks
like want to kill George.
George was so scared, especially
when he remembered that he didn’t have any poison for the audience safety. It’s
his fault of being such a busybody snake, therefore Cindy have to get rid of
his poison. His attention change back and forth between the birds and Jason.
After thinking for a while in such a panicked situation, he managed to free the
birds. He broke the cage with his fangs. He wanted to ask the birds for looking
for help but the birds flew away just before George told them. What a stupid
snake.
Now he’s totally trapped and cannot
go anywhere except die being chefed by Jason. Just at the time Jason started to
swing his big sharp and mean knife towards George, Cindy hit Jason with her
flute from behind saved his life.
She said that there are a couple of
birds that brings her there. Even though Cindy is angry of George, she still
cares. George already thought that Cindy trashed him away and never takes him
anymore. Cindy hugged George and say sorry for shooing him away. The story ends
when George enjoys his freestyle dance with the instruments from anywhere
surround him, and Cindy also enjoys playing her flute in freestyle and go with
the flow. George also catches some foods randomly from Cindy while he was
dancing. They even attract more people and entertain a lot more; also it’s a
great deal of fun for them.
SCRIPT (5min or 5pages)
ACT 1 (SETUP)
SCENE 1: EXTERIOR – CROWDED STREET IN ARABIAN
VILLAGE – DAY
It was a sunny day in this
Arabian village. There’s a snake charmer Cindy and her snake George playing a
song there. Cindy plays the flute, and George dance through her instruments.
They have some audience blocking the crowded street and watch at their play.
Usually George doesn’t really listen to her music. When there’s an audience’s
phone ringing and he dance according to the ringtone. Even when there’s a
chicken chopper, George dances according to the knife movement. Cindy found
this is annoying and make the play into a mesh. She tried to scold him for many
times, but George never listens.
One day, George dance
properly from when Cindy starts her flute play, until a few seconds later, his
eyes stick on a couple of blue and green birds inside a cage appear from inside
the crowds. Well, the birdcage doesn’t appear by itself, it’s on a motorcycle
that tried to squeeze out from in the middle of the crowds as well.
GEORGE
“hmmm that birds look
delicious.. aww.. looks like I’m hungry”
He said that in a quite
distance from the birds. It’s not loud enough for the birds to hear it.
MAYA
- BLUE BIRD
“So that’s the snake that
people talkin about, hm? Looks like it’s true that he really doesn’t pay
attention at all.”
LUCAS
- GREEN BIRD
“At least, he pays attention
at us”
“Not
us, you green ball. He supposed to pay attention to her! And now where’s he
looking at!”
“Based
on his eyes, it seems like he’s looking at us?”
“Yeah,
he’s apparently looking at us”
“aaand now he looks hungry”
“aww…. Poor snake…”
George move towards the
birdcages as the motorcycle brings them a bit further from him. His big and
wide eyes really stuck like glue on that blue and green bird inside. His head
is not dancing anymore, but his tail is still dancing…. but from the rhythm
that comes from the motorcycle engine, instead of Cindy’s instrument. She was
starting to angry. George opens his mouth wide and snap it out as he was trying
to catch the birds. But he snap his mouth just in front of a little girl face.
She was terrified with sharp snake fangs that is too close to her face and
starts to cry out loud.
CINDY
“Enough you stupid snake!
You don’t listen to me, and now you scare a girl instead of make her smile! oh
my crappy useless reptile!”
She said that in her loud
Arabic Scotland like dialect. The atmosphere turns into a silence in a second.
Only the motorcycle engine is heard, and George tail is still dancing through
it’s rhythm although, his eyes were widen towards Cindy. He was surprised.
“Get
the hell out of here! Go away and disappear from my sight! I .. have it
enough..”
As her voice getting weaker,
George stops his tail from moving around back and forth.
GEORGE
“oh crap.. I did this again…
and now I’m doomed. It’s the first time she asks me to go away! What should I
doo??.... Oh! Oh! Oh! I know what I have to do! I have to eat!”
A minute later, his eyes
back to those birds. His mind is changed, from thinking about Cindy, and now
he’s thinking about his hunger
MAYA
- BLUE BIRD
“See, now she’s angry.. that
stupid legless reptile is doomed”
LUCAS
- GREEN BIRD
“And I have a feeling that
he’s chasing after us”
“Well,
close enough and his smile’s telling me that we are delicious”
“Well,
I’ve never taste myself so I’m not sure. And his face even happier and bigger
now”
“Told
you.. he’s interested in us!.. wait.. he’s chasing after us!! He wants to eat
us!!”
“That’s
the one I was trying to talk about”
As the motorcycle keeps
moving forward avoiding the crowds in front, George keep following from behind
as fast as he could. When it comes to the fewer crowds, that vehicle runs faster
and George keep raising his speed as well, but things doesn’t seem to well. His
big and wide eyes stuck on those birds, while he doesn’t pay attention to his
surroundings. He slapped a few people’s feet with his tail, he crash into a cat
until it fell down, he splashed into a tiny flood and the water was get into
someone’s food, even he crash into an old man’s newspaper, but he still doesn’t
care about it. He made a hole through the newspaper until that paper slide down
to his neck, almost looks like a paper scarf on him and he still keeps dashing
the birdcages, while Maya the blue bird look down on him
MAYA
– BLUE BIRD
Okay, so he left his master
to chase us. But he still thinkin that he will make it due to this speed, huh?
LUCAS
– GREEN BIRD
Well, he looks smaller now
MAYA
– BLUE BIRD
“it because he’s getting
further and further from us, you green ball! He won’t make it”
ACT 2 ( CONFRONTATION)
SCENE 2: EXTERIOR – A MEAT SHOP BY THE STREET - DAY
George keeps chasing the
motorcycle with a birdcage, when suddenly he saw a chef Jason holding a fish.
When he was about to chop the fish, George took it in just a blink. George was
in a hurry so he just bites the tail and just in a few seconds, the fish slip
from his mouth and drop into the trench. Well, it’s okay.. George continues
chasing the birds after failing on the fish.
MAYA
– BLUE BIRD
“See! He even fails on
getting a fish! He’s such an epic fail”
LUCAS – GREEN BIRD
“But now he looks much
bigger now and his face even much happier.”
“Hm.. He’s pretty cute in a
closer look though; aw look at that newspaper on his neck. But he’s still won’t
make it. We are way too fast”
“Oh..
the chef is now behind him”
“Looks
like we really looks delicious, even the chef chasing after us as well”
“Aaand
that fat chef is behind that hopeless snake”
“HAHAH!
That means that chef wanna kill him! The fish revenge!”
“oh! So the chef is chasing
after this snake? While this snake is chasing after us?”
“It’s
obvious, you green furball! That snake just stole his fish!”
SCENE 3: EXTERIOR – FURTHER CROWDED ARABIAN STREET
Since George is an agile and
well-trained snake, he can jump over here and there without getting any
difficulties. He can slip into a small hole that the chef cannot. So, George
encountered another tiny flood again and he past it easily with some water
splash gone everywhere. But it doesn’t look well for the chef.. He fell down on
that flood because it’s slippery for human’s shoe lace but it boost George
forward as he have a supporting scale.
SCENE 4: EXTERIOR - NARROW
PASSAGE BESIDE THE STREET, BEHIND THE SHOPS, DARKER BELLOW THE SHADE – DAY
The motorcycle went into a
narrow passage behind the shops. It’s a wet and darker place compared to the
outside of the open street. Despite of the narrow place, the motorcycle gone
slower and slower until the driver starts to stop his vehicle beside one of the
door behind the shops there.
LUCAS
– GREEN BIRD
“Ow! Ow! Can you see that?
He’s lowering his speed! Does it means that he gave up?”
MAYA
– BLUE BIRD
“Apparently not! This
freakin motorcycle is parking!”
“Aaand
I can see the cute big scaly eyes in front of me”
“Shid! Where’s that freakin chef!
He suppose to stop this snake earlier and now we are doomed!”
“aw…… that’s a nice fangs,
clean teeth, and big mouth open. I can see death in front of me”
GEORGE
“Going somewhere, little
fluffy birds?”
MAYA
– BLUE BIRD
“Oh.. hi there nice snake!
You look adorable with that newspaper on your neck”
As the bird starts a
clueless conversation in order to thinking some ways for not getting eating by
George, unfortunately that reddish orange snake push his head towards the birds
closer and frown his eyebrows, while the birds move their legs backwards in a
hitch. They started to shake as they afraid of the reptile.
GEORGE
“Thanks for admiring.. but
looks like my stomach is a bit hungry.. soo…”
While the birds are in danger, the chef that fell down
of the flood trying to get up. Since he’s fat, he have a longer time just to
get up. After standing and keep his body balanced, he started to look for the
snake again. He simply look after the newspaper oh the snake’s neck that make
him easier to get spotted. He lean his head left and right, checking
everywhere.
JASON THE CHEF
“Where’s that silly looking newspaper snake… hmmpff!”
After looking around for a while, finally he spotted
the snake arguing with birds in the cage in that narrow passage..
JASON THE CHEF
“heh.. heh…. Now you have no where to run”
He said that while he was walking as slow as he could
so the snake won’t hear him. At the same time, George was trying to open the
cage with his sharp fangs ready in front of the cage door.
LUCAS – GREEN BIRD
“wow.. wow.. w-what a nice teeth. O-o-oh please be
careful with that… aaaannd is that the chef from before?”
Said Lucas the green bird while he’s shaking harder
and keep moving backwards until the end of the cage.
MAYA – BLUE BIRD
“y-y-y-yeap…….. you may wanna look back and say hello
to misterrr………..”
GEORGE
“There’s no one behind me. Don’t you try to fool
something or me? I’m hungry now so I’m just looking on what in front of……”
Before he managed to finished his sentence, he could
see the huge shadow in front of him go through the cage, the birds, and the
surroundings. There’s really someone behind him.. He slowly turn his head
backward and he could see a huge feet. He continues to look up and here goes
the angry Jason staring at him. Suddenly George’s eye got widen and let down
his jaw
MAYA – BLUE BIRD
“And now who will be get eaten.. me, this green
furball, or you instead?! HAAH! TAKE THAT!”
JASON THE CHEF
“Hmm… looks like you gave me a jackpot over here. Two
birds! I wonder if I can chef them also, looks better from fish though”
MAYA – BLUE BIRD
“ups…..”
Now those three of them were in a same deadly
situation! They don’t have any place to run. It’s the end of the passage
already, and there’s only a wire net behind them which is even too small for
George to slip in.. Looking at this situation, George look down on the ground,
frown his eyebrows and suck in his lips, thinking of something before….
GEORGE
“ One is better than three!!”
He said that loud and confidently open the cage with
his fangs and let the birds free. Well, the birds flew away immediately when
they see a slightest opportunity to get away from the cage! Now they all went
in the air.
GEORGE
“OH SNAP! I forgot to ask them for help before free
them and now they’re gone! I’m really a failure.”
JASON THE CHEF
“Look what have you done! Saving the birds? But that
won’t save you!”
Jason said that angrily while he knead his left hand,
and move his another hand with a sharp looking knife upwards, ready to kill
George. The snake can only close his eyes and surrender since he remembered
that Cindy had removed his poison! It's his fault to get distracted by people..
Cindy just don’t want someone get killed by George’s poison accidentally.
Just when Jason’s knife reached George, he heard a
whack sound. It sounded like a wooden object hitting something big. Found that
there’s nothing happened to him, He tried to open his eyes slowly. He quickly
widen his eyes while moving his chin up. He sees Cindy in front if him! And he
see fat Jason the chef down there unconscious, still with his knife. In a few
seconds later, he saw the blue and green bird flew and landed on Cindy’s
shoulder right and left. They spread a
wide smile on George..
GEORGE
“you…. You told her ?”
Maya and Lucas only nods
GEORGE
“You told her ..
I mean.. you drag her here?? For me??”
MAYA – BLUE BIRD
“Now it's not one anymore… none is better than three!”
At that time, feeling relieved, George can only see
black fog in front him and collapse from starving and tired.
SCECE 5:
EXTERIOR – CROWDED ARABIAN STREET INSIDE THE VILLAGE, THE PLACE AT THE
BEGINNING - DAY
Starting
tomorrow, George started to dance with Cindy again. But now, they were trying o
understand each other. George still dancing in freestyle, according to what he
heard! But now it’s different. Cindy finally opens her heart and trying to
understand that her pet is only trying to have fun with everybody. Not only
with her music. She’s been to boozy and self centered, which makes her shoo
George away. Maya and Lucas the birds sing there in a beautiful voice, while
the audience and people surrounds make some instruments also using … anything..
Just anything. Ringtone, coins, footsteps, and drums. When everybody is in joy,
it’s magically turns into a new music arrangement. It’s not made with a proper
music instruments but it’s just fun together. Even Cindy tried to relax and
toss some foods sometimes to George who catches it in a blink while he’s
dancing around. Moreover, George cans catches it in rhythm that makes Lucas and
Maya laugh out loud
MAYA- BLUE BIRD
“He’s always a silly hungry snake after all”
LUCAS- GREEN BIRD
“Aaand here comes the food flying again”
